How to Determine Your Monthly Active Users (MAU)
Common Mistake: Many organizations think they need licenses for ALL customers in their database. This is usually NOT true!
What MAU Actually Means:
MAU = Unique users who actually LOG IN per month
NOT the total number of contacts in your CRM or Dataverse!
Real-World Example:
- 500,000 customers in your Dataverse database
- 500 cases created per month
- 450 unique customers who created those cases
- 460 unique contacts who actually logged in
Result: You need ~500 MAU licenses (with growth buffer)
NOT 500,000 licenses!
